Pastor Dr. Shelvan Arunan’s Professional BiographyPastor Shelvan Arunan is a native of Sri-Lanka and has resided in the U.S. for the past 29 years. Dr. Arunan has over 39 years of experience working with the Seventh-day Adventist Church and its Health Care Systems. Until November 16, 2016, Dr. Arunan served as the Executive Director of Mission Integration and Spiritual Care and director of CPE for Adventist HealthCare in Rockville, Maryland.
Presently, Pastor Arunan serves as Senior Pastor for Mizo Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Maryland, and Clinical Pastoral Education Consultant and works for Adventist Chaplaincy Institute of Adventist Chaplaincy Ministry, General Conference (ACM-GC). He has travelled to a number of Asian countries to teach CPE, pastoral counselling and conflict management. Over the last five years, he has been involved in holding evangelistic meetings in the Philippines. Dr. Arunan was a member of North America Division and General Conference of Adventist Chaplaincy Ministry Committee.
Dr. Arunan is an accomplished Certified Christian Conciliator, pastor, chaplain, evangelist, ministerial director, family life educator, pastoral care administrator, pastoral counselor, clinical pastoral educator, and Modern Psychoanalysis Group Psychotherapist. Until the winter of 2009, Dr. Arunan was also Director of Reconciliation Ministry for the Ohio Conference, the producer and host of Spirit Alive, a Christian radio talk show, and The Collective Echo Television Ministries.
Pastor Dr. Arunan holds endorsements and certifications with 18 spiritual and professional counseling organizations, as well as master's and doctoral degrees both in pastoral counseling, psychology and practical theology. He is an alumnus of The Adler School in Chicago; The Evangelical Theological Seminary in Dallas; Pakistan Adventist Seminary and College in Lahore; and the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies in Manila, Philippines.
His wife, Rajee, works as a HealthCare leader for Washington Adventist Hospital in Tacoma Park, MD and his son, Keith is social worker and psychotherapist and the daughter, Angie is a Registered Nurse and Psychotherapist, she works in Washington Adventist HealthCare, Maryland.
